Cláudia Ferro
Born in Portugal, she spent eleven years living in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, before returning to Portugal, where she currently resides.
With a degree in Clinical Psychology, she also has training and professional experience in the fields of Clinical and Forensic Psychology, as well as Social Sciences.
Her artistic practice, developed as a self-taught artist, reflects a constant search for Beauty — an exploration through drawing and painting of alternative realities or deeper, more subjective ones. These realities are sometimes dreamlike, hedonistic, sensual, colorful, or raw, expressed in black and white, earthy tones, and textures that evoke chaos, roughness, relief, and the scars of life.
Many of her works center around the female figure, delicate in form yet strong in presence — women with large, expressive eyes that both question and observe, eyes that reflect and communicate what lies within and what exists beyond, evoking emotional and affective experiences.
Through her work, she aims to achieve a certain kind of visual poetry, one that is ultimately reimagined by the viewer.
